It’s Thanksgiving, and as such, I am feeling the need to make this post about gratitude. The truth is, I have a lot in my life to be grateful for. I am grateful for old friends and new ones. I am grateful for family. I am grateful for a path that I have chosen to follow and that has lead me here.
I am grateful for a life full of spirit and love, that doesn’t deny the darker, harder aspects lingering in shadows. I am grateful for my courage, for my fears, for my rage. I am grateful for every ounce of hope that keeps me lifting my feet to go one step further toward something I can’t see or touch, and the faith that relentlessly has me believing I will uncover something tender and beautiful in that unknowable place. I am grateful that I am the person I am.
I am grateful for my humor. I am grateful for my hardships. I am grateful for the shooting star I saw tonight and the friend sitting next to me who got to see it too.
I am grateful for a future that I cannot know, but that I choose to believe is ripe with endless possibilities.
The truth is, I have a lot in my life to be grateful for, and I want more. I like where I am and I’m not totally satisfied here either. I will have a list of wishes for the New Year when it comes. At the top of that list is love.
